Dr. Serafeim Theocharis is an Agronomist and Assistant Professor of Viticulture in the Department of Agriculture at the International Hellenic University, Alexandria Campus (Sindos). He holds a Ph.D. in Viticulture (2021) from the Department of Agriculture, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and an M.Sc. in Viticulture (2010) from the Interdepartmental Postgraduate Program “Viticulture – Oenology” of the Agricultural University of Athens. He completed his undergraduate studies in the Department of Agriculture, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, specializing in Fruit, Vegetable, and Vine Crops (2006).
He has previously served as a Scientific Associate and Academic Fellow, teaching undergraduate courses at the Department of Agriculture, University of Western Macedonia, and the Department of Agricultural Biotechnology and Oenology, Democritus University of Thrace. The courses he has taught include Viticulture, Vine Cultivation Techniques, Ampelography, Terroir and Vineyard Management, and Advances in Viticulture and Oenology.
His scholarly work comprises 18 peer-reviewed research articles published in international scientific journals and 35 papers presented at international and national conferences. He has also participated as a member of research teams in 14 national research projects in the field of viticulture and acts as a reviewer for international journals.
His research interests include water relations and plant nutrition physiology; the ecophysiology of environmental stresses and the morphological, physiological, and biochemical adaptations of grapevines; the role of rootstocks and grapevine responses to viticultural practices; as well as the application and assessment of precision agriculture tools in viticulture.
