Dr. Roumpos Christos is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Agriculture of the School of Agricultural Sciences of the International Hellenic University, in the field of “Applied Agricultural Entomology”. He completed his PhD in 2005 at the Rheinish Friedrich Wilhelm University of Bonn in Germany. His research interests focus on plant protection, and specifically on the control of plant parasitic nematodes, as well as on the control of post-harvest insect infestations of stored products. In recent years, he has been actively involved in research on the utilization of insects as a source of nutrients and specifically on the optimization of the mass rearing of mealworms (Tenebrio molitor, Alphitobius diaperinus, Zophobas morio). Since 2011, he has participated as a researcher in a large number of research programs [>20 research programs]. Dr. Roumpos has published more than 100 research papers in prestigious international scientific journals, and has participated in many international scientific conferences with a significant number of presentations [>130 conference presentations]. He is Deputy Subject Editor of the journal animal, Associate Editor of the journals Journal of Insects as Food and Feed, Heliyon and Journal of Insect Science, Topic Editor of the journals Insects and Sustainability, and Review Editor of the journal Frontiers in Physiology: Invertebrate Physiology. In addition, he was Guest Editor of three Special issues in the journals Insects, Journal of Insect Science and Sustainability.
